Defense & Space Systems (DSS) Division Manager
Darren Durkee leads TSC’s Defense & Space Systems (DSS) Division, providing Research and Development (R&D) and Science and Technology (S&T) support for US Government and commercial customers. DSS is comprised of the Radar & Precision Weapons (RPWD), Space Solutions & Services (SSS), and Signal Process, Test, and Controls (SPTC) business operations with locations in Huntsville, AL, Arlington, VA, Washington DC, Bloomington, IN, Silver Spring, MD, Los Angeles, CA, and Trumbull, CT.
Mr. Durkee earned his BS in Operations Research from the US Air Force Academy, MS in Operations Research from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and MS in Business Administration from Boston University. He served as a career officer in the US Air Force with Joint Staff and Air Staff tours in the Pentagon and has over 4000 flight hours conducting C5ISR and Electronic Combat operations in the RC-135 Rivet Joint, EC-130H Compass Call, E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), and the E-8 Joint Stars platforms.
Post military, Mr. Durkee spent 16 years with Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc., in various technical and management roles of increasing responsibility, supporting counter weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) R&D for the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Intelligence Community (IC). As ARA’s Capital Area Division General Manager, he managed P& L for the company’s second largest business unit. Mr. Durkee joined SMA, Inc. in 2021 as Vice President, supporting defense contractor multi-billion-dollar acquisition category one (ACAT I) strategy development, competitive assessment, capture, Price-To-Win, and proposal development efforts. Joining TSC in 2023, Mr. Durkee reports to the CEO and has profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for several company business units.
