The ALPACAS geospatial analysis framework is a collection of libraries, algorithms, wizards, and user-interface elements. It has been built using DoD-standard C/JMTK components. ALPACAS runs on the Microsoft Windows operating system, is written in C#, and uses a Microsoft SQL server database to store doctrinal and other persistent information. A C/JMTK file geodatabase is employed to store terrain and feature data.
This ready-made framework has been developed as a foundation for building higher-level tools for analysis, visualization, and planning of logistic and/or tactical courses of action. Its rapid, dynamic replanning and what-if capabilities can serve as a force-mulitplier both on the battlefield and in a classroom setting.
